It had been a very long time since I had seen Lauren’s family all together, and when I did, I couldn’t believe how much the kids had grown. When I look back at the photographs from the previous session and then look at these new images, the difference is incredible.

There was a row of established trees with delicate white blossoms created the most romantic, fairytale-like setting — especially as the golden evening light would be filtered through the branches around sunset time. One of my favorite moments from the session was watching them relax into each other so naturally underneath the blooming trees. The blossoms surrounded them completely, creating the dreamiest backdrop while they laughed, held each other close, and soaked in the moment together.

Photographing the Kossmann family over the years has been such a meaningful journey. From Amanda and Nick’s maternity sessions for both babies (seen here for gwen and here for Tanner), to Gwen’s first birthday milestone, and now capturing them as a family of four—it’s been so special to watch their story unfold. A month ago, we met for their latest session with almost-three-year-old Gwen and six-month-old Tanner. Like many sessions with little ones, it came with a few unexpected challenges....
