Photographing the Kossmann family over the years has been such a meaningful journey. From Amanda and Nick’s maternity sessions for both babies (seen here for gwen and here for Tanner), to Gwen’s first birthday milestone, and now capturing them as a family of four—it’s been so special to watch their story unfold.
A month ago, we met for their latest session with almost-three-year-old Gwen and six-month-old Tanner. Like many sessions with little ones, it came with a few unexpected challenges.
Even though we were inside a covered structure, it was so cold—one of those weekends you just can’t quite plan for. Because of that, we leaned into a more lifestyle approach, focusing on connection and letting the moments unfold naturally.

Gwen brought her personality (with a little motivation from the promise of bubbles 🫧), and Tanner wasn’t full of smiles and giggles as he usually is, which made it clear he would have preferred somewhere much warmer. So we followed their lead—and that’s where the magic tends to happen.

When I sent their sneak peek, it was such a good reminder that even in unpredictable moments, there is so much beauty. The snuggles, the quiet comfort, the way this family shows up for each other—it all came through so naturally.

As I photographed them, I couldn’t help but think about this season of life—raising two little ones so close in age. It’s full, it’s busy, and it takes so much patience and persistence. There’s something really admirable about the way they move through it together, meeting each moment with care and love.
At the end of the day, it’s not about everything going perfectly—it’s about capturing what’s real.

To the Kossmann family: thank you for continuing to trust me with your memories. It’s such a gift to watch your family grow.
