Collaboration Photographer exchange

Updated: May 6, 2021

I'm so excited to share a recent collaboration with you. Kate (Saperstone) Spector and I have known each other since we were young. My parents used to bring my sister and I to see her dad for doctors appointments at Guilderland Pediatrics. Kate and I became friends while at Guilderland High School together. We share a common respect for Judaism and passion for art. Kate and I both have a lot in common, and even attended the College of Saint Rose together after high school. Kate an I both graduated with a Bachelors of Fine Arts degree; her concentration was in photography, and mine was graphic design. Kate went on to study at Sage Colleges of Albany, where she got her Masters in Art Education.

Kate and I have connected off and on after College. We spoke about dating and how difficult it was to find the right person within our faith or in general. We bonded over the love of art and our experience at Saint Rose.

Kate and I hadn't seen each other since before she was married and changed her name, but when we saw each other again on this overcast, slightly cold April weekend, it was like no time had passed. Kate is sweet and soft spoken, and has a wonderful spirit about her. She's wonderful with children, and I see why she gravitates towards, and is able to capture such precious moments in her family photography.

Why collaborate with another photographer?

Why not? I’m not in this business to be competitive. Kate and I both love what we do and we want to share it with all of you in our own ways and styles. We really love talking shop as fellow photographers, and swapping tips and advice. Collaboration is a great way to grow and create a beneficial referral process and networking technique.

Kate agreed on a photoswap with me, professional to professional. She also brought her daughter Ella to photograph, which I loved. Children are so much fun to photograph because they have their own bright personalities, and they can challenge and surprise you with expression.

Kate and I began our session swapping tips and taking photos of Ella with all her glorious energy. Here are some of mine.

After some energy burst moments, I was able to capture some serene moments telling a story of discovery and reflection.

Then I got these gorgeous close ups ;-).

Ella took a well deserved Reese’s peanut butter cup treat break, and Kate and I got to work exchanging professional portraits of each other.

Here are some of my favorites from our joint session:

You can see how our individual personalities shine through in our portraits.

Being able to collaborate with others creates a solid network of mutual respect and a love for our craft. When we work together and share our passion, we are an unstoppable force.

Join me on my next post as the collaboration continues with a styled shoot in May.

If you’re interested in a collaboration as a photographer, videographer, makeup artist, stylist, nail artist, actress, model, jewelry artist, or anything in between, I love expanding my network of contacts, and referrals to get together for a trade of services or collaboration.
