Engagement Session at Yaddo Gardens
Saratoga Springs, NY - Emily and Vlad

There are some days that just feel like magic — and Emily and Vlad’s engagement session at Yaddo Gardens was exactly that.


It was one of those summer days with perfect weather, full sun, warm air, with the gardens at their peak — bursting with color, life, and charm. As we pulled into the historic grounds of Yaddo Gardens in Saratoga Springs, the paths were buzzing with visitors, and a peaceful yoga class was unfolding nearby. But even with the lively atmosphere, we found a quiet little corner away from the crowd to begin our session.


We started off gently — sitting on cool stone steps tucked in the shade — giving Emily and Vlad a moment to get comfortable in front of the camera. And honestly, it didn’t take long. Their connection was natural, their smiles effortless. You could feel how much they adore one another, and it made my job incredibly easy.

Knowing they’re considering a castle venue for their wedding, it only made sense to photograph them with the Yaddo mansion subtly peeking through the background. It gave the images a romantic, almost storybook feel, perfectly aligned with their vision.

Yaddo Gardens offers no shortage of enchanting backdrops — from marble statues tucked among the hedges to the elegant marble staircase that leads up to a marble balcony. The roses were in bloom, climbing and curling around the white trellis walkway, creating the most dreamy scenes for their photos.

Every turn offered a new, breathtaking spot to pause and capture another romantic moment between these two.

Time slipped away from us as we laughed, explored, and documented the love Emily and Vlad share.

We didn’t even realize how long we had been shooting until stomachs started to rumble for lunch.
