Previously on “Washington Park, Albany NY -Proposal”: Tyler had been planning the perfect proposal for his girlfriend Rachel for weeks. After narrowing down the location to Washington Park in Albany and arranging the details, the big day arrived. As the drizzle fell and the evening light softened, he gave me the signal — two fingers behind his back — and hid the ring box just out of view.
Here’s what happened next:
Tyler guided Rachel down the path near the bridge at Washington Park, where the trees still clung to their last bits of color. I asked them to pose for one last shot, standing side by side and looking toward the camera. Then, in one smooth motion, Tyler dropped to one knee and opened the ring box.

Rachel froze for half a second before realizing what was happening — and then came the biggest smile I’ve ever seen. Laughter and pure joy.
She said yes, of course, and the park seemed to glow a little brighter despite the drizzle.

We continued our session across the bridge, capturing that post-proposal bliss that’s impossible to fake. Every photo from that point on had a different kind of energy — lighter, freer, and full of joy.

As daylight faded, we wrapped up outside photos under the weeping willow where there was time to be a little silly, with some formal posed photos, where the soft evening light made everything feel golden.
Then it was back to The Argus Hotel for a few final photos: close-ups of the ring and celebratory macarons.

Rachel’s bubbly spirit and Tyler’s quiet devotion balanced each other perfectly — two people wrapped in their own joyful world, celebrating the start of forever.
It felt poetic to be capturing their proposal on the same weekend as my own wedding anniversary — a reminder that love comes in all stages, and every chapter deserves to be celebrated.
From that very first Instagram message to the last shot of the day, this proposal reminded me why I love what I do — capturing the real, unscripted beauty of moments like these.
